FAQ - Frequently asked questions
- I would like to book a photo box. How do I proceed?
-
You can book your SelfieBooth directly via our website. To do this, click on the “Book” button (on the homepage) or select the “Rent” page in the main menu, then you will be guided through the individual steps for renting. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
- How long does a rental contract last?
-
For the price of a one-time rental of the photo box, you can use it all weekend long! You pick it up at the end of the day on Thursday and return it at the end of the day on Monday. Sometimes events also take place during the week, don't worry, just contact us and you will see that we are flexible.
- What are the recommended dates for booking?
-
From April to September (wedding season) the rentals are very numerous. It is advisable to book early (2 to 3 months) so that you can be sure that your SelfieBooth is available. If you want to rent “at the last minute”, i.e. less than 8 days before your event, contact us. We will reply as soon as possible.
- I would like to book a photobooth for the end of this week, is that possible?
-
Contact us, if a SelfieBooth is still available, this is certainly possible.
- Can I also rent a photo box during the week?
-
We mainly offer the rental of photo boxes for a whole weekend (from Thursday to Monday). Rentals usually start on Thursdays and Fridays and are returned the following Monday or Tuesday. For events during the week, please contact us. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
- What happens if my event is postponed or canceled?
-
Postponement of events: You can postpone your event free of charge if necessary, up to 20 days before your actual rental date. If you already know the new date, contact us and we will change the date. Several consecutive postponements are possible if required. Cancellation of events : If necessary, you can cancel your event free of charge up to 30 days before your rental date. After this deadline, a processing fee of CHF 80 will be charged.
- I don't need to print the photos at my event, can I rent without the printer?
-
Absolutely. The basic package for CHF 219 will meet your needs exactly. You can take as many digital photos as you like and retrieve all the photos in your online gallery after returning the SelfieBooth.
- Are set-up and installation included in the rental price?
-
Our offers do not include delivery or set-up and dismantling. We do not offer a delivery service. We have designed the MySelfieBooth so that it can be transported in any small car and set up very easily by a single person in 5 minutes.
- I would like to book a photo box for just one evening, is the price the same?
-
Yes, the fee is the same for use on a single evening or for a whole weekend. Your photo box can be used from the time you pick it up until the time you return it. No blocking or usage restrictions.
- What payment methods are available?
-
Payment is made by credit card or invoice (payment must be made at least 10 days before your event). The deposit is always required in cash and will be refunded in cash.
- Why do we ask for a deposit?
-
Unfortunately, accidents happen all the time. A complete SelfieBooth costs over 2900.- CHF, the deposit is 200.- CHF and in the rare cases where a small mishap has happened, this amount covers the repairs.
- There are hundreds of guests at my event, how many photos should I plan for?
-
Over the years, we have found that you can expect about 1.6 photos per guest. Of course, this varies a little depending on your friends. For an event with 100 guests, we recommend 200 photos. If your friends love selfies, take 300 photos and if you have an unopened pack of 100 photos left over, we will take them back and refund you.
- What is the maximum number of photos I can print?
-
The only limit is the duration of your event. The average print per hour is 35-40 photos. This average takes into account the shooting of the guests and the impression of the photo. This means that for a 5-hour event with continuous use of the SelfieBooth, you will print 200 photos.
- Is there a way to recharge the printer during my event?
-
It is necessary to load new paper into the printer every 50 photos. It is best to have one of your guests do this for you. The SelfieBooth will hold photos in the waiting list when the printer runs out of paper and an indicator on the printer flashes orange. After you have refilled the printer with a package of 50 photos and pressed the “OK” button on the printer, the print job will resume. Before your event, our technicians will refill the printers with ink for 2000 prints.
- Is the SelfieBooth complicated to use?
-
No worries! We have designed a simple and effective photo box. Once you have set up the SelfieBooth and switched it on, there are only two buttons on the touch screen. A large green button to take a photo of you and a smaller black button to go to the photo gallery if you want to print photos again Once you have taken a photo, you have the option to print it if you like it by pressing the “printer” button or the “green face” to take another photo of yourself. The user interface is simple and intuitive.
- What can I do if a technical problem occurs during my event?
-
On the printer or on the inside of the SelfieBooth door you will find a QR CODE that you can scan with your smartphone. This will give you access to online help, which you can use to easily resolve the most common faults (refilling paper, problems with the power supply, etc.). If the online help does not solve the problem, the telephone number of the on-call service is displayed. Free technical support 7 days a week from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. (including public holidays).
- What are the dimensions of the photo box?
-
Height: adjustable from 1m20 to 1m60. Floor area: less than 1 m2. Weight: 9 kg (SelfieBooth + stand = 5 kg, printer in protective box = 4 kg). Required distance: 50cm to 1m50 for photos in optimum quality. Very easy to set up by one person.
- I have a very small Fiat 500 convertible and the trunk is really small, will I be able to transport the photo box?
-
Yes, that's no problem. The printer goes in the trunk, the SelfieBooth and the foot on the back seat. That leaves the passenger seat free.
- I have a Porsche 911 GT3 and the trunk is really tiny, will I be able to transport the photo box?
-
Yes, without any worries. The printer and the SelfieBooth fit in the small trunk at the front and the base fits easily behind the two seats. The passenger seat remains free.
- How can I restore my photos?
-
Your web gallery will be emailed to you as soon as we receive the box back so you can download the photos or send the gallery to your guests. This gallery is valid for 30 days, after which it will be deleted and the photos will no longer be available.
- Photobox or photographer for my wedding?
-
At MySelfieBooth, we believe that a photobooth, no matter how good it is, can never replace a photographer. A photobooth is an ideal complement to a photographer. Your guests will certainly feel freer with the photobooth, allowing them to have fun and maybe even take some unbridled photos!
- I have provided a background for the photo box:
-
If you have provided a special background, it should be at least 2m wide and 2.4m high. The distance between the backdrop and the photobooth will be around 1.5 to 1.8m. This leaves enough space for 5 to 8 people to be photographed at the same time. The further you increase the distance between the backdrop and the photobooth, the wider your backdrop will be and the higher it will be. Backlighting: In most cases, the ambient lighting of the location works very well to illuminate both the backdrop and the photo subjects. In this situation, the SelfieBooth lighting allows a little more light to be cast on the subjects to reduce the shadows under the chin and give the faces a more vibrant expression. However, if the ambient light is not available or dark, the background must be brightened with additional lighting. Otherwise, the shadows of the people on the background will be visible and this does not look very aesthetically pleasing. The SelfieBooth's adjustable lights are there to illuminate the guests taking selfies.
- I have not provided a background for the photo box:
-
If you have not provided a special background for the SelfieBooth, it is best to turn it towards the room or your guests. This way, the background of your photos won't contain the shadows of your guests taking selfies. Lighting: For best results, use neutral ambient lighting at your party location and use the SelfieBooth's adjustable lighting to add a special glow to your guests' faces and outfits.
- I would like to set up the photo box in the dance hall (dance floor).
-
Taking photos of people moving in a dark environment with colored lights is very difficult. We advise you not to set up the SelfieBooth on a dancefloor. However, if this is your only option, you should ensure that the photobooth area is lit with neutral (white) light. This will create a neutral lighting mood so that your guests can take the best possible photos of themselves with the photobooth.
- Things you should avoid
-
Avoid turning the photobooth onto a white or black wall without any ambient lighting or without the wall being illuminated. Otherwise you will get a not very flattering shadow. Avoid at all costs color lighting that bathes your room in a single hue, e.g. all red, all blue, etc. Even if you set the photobooth lighting to maximum, the reflections on your guests' skin will be colorful and unflattering.
